چکیده

myofibroblasts characterized by a rapidly growing non-tender subcutaneous mass and subsequently self-limited course.1-4 It is commonly found on the upper extremities, face, and shoulder, although it may occur in any superficial location.3-5 Its etiology is largely unknown, but associations have been made with local trauma, infection and inflammation.1,4,6 We report a case of an intraneural and intramuscular nodular fasciitis presenting in the obturator nerve and gracilis muscle, respectively. To our knowledge, this is the second reported case of this disease presenting in a nerve of the lower extremity,1 as well as the first reported case of it presenting within muscle and nerve simultaneously.

Anatomic variations of the obturator nerve in the inguinal region: implications in conventional and ultrasound regional anesthesia techniques.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES This study was conducted to provide a thorough description of the variability in the obturator nerve branching pattern in the inguinal region. METHODS The anatomic variability of obturator nerve branching among 84 dissected embalmed cadavers was investigated. Ultrasound examination of the inguinal region was undertaken in 20 cases and the location of the obturator ne...

Transfer of two motor branches of the anterior obturator nerve to the motor portion of the femoral nerve: an anatomical feasibility study.

Femoral nerve lesions are uncommon, but very distressing at the functional level because of the absence of knee locking mechanism by the quadriceps muscle. We propose here a new neurotization procedure of obturator nerve motor branches to the motor portion of the femoral nerve in the thigh. This study was conducted on five cadavers. The motor portion of the femoral nerve and the motor branches ...

Intraneural cases are very rare and can present with neurological symptoms, requiring surgical resection. CASE DESCRIPTION A 31-year-old woman presented to us with painful paresthesias in her elbow and progressive motor deficits, for which she underwe...

Nodular Fasciitis of the Auricle: A Case Report

Introduction: Nodular fasciitis is described as a benign reactive proliferation of myofibroblasts. Due to its rapid-growing nature, a precise clinical diagnosis is difficult and the condition is frequently misdiagnosed as malignant lesions.   Case Report: In this study, we present the case of a young woman with an auricular nodular fasciitis as an example of one of the rarest sites of this tumo...

Facial reanimation of patients with neurofibromatosis type 2.

BACKGROUND Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) is a tumor suppressor syndrome defined by bilateral vestibular schwannomas. Facial paralysis, from either tumor growth or surgical intervention, is a devastating complication of this disorder and can contribute to disfigurement and corneal keratopathy. Historically, physicians have not attempted to treat facial paralysis in these patients. OBJECTIVE T...
